Introducing Anmol Guru, Amazing Photographer from Uttarakhand

Retro Kolkata : First of all Heartiest congratulations for your selection in Retro Kolkata Magazine Green Edition. Please introduce yourself. Tell us about your background.

Anmol Guru : Gursimran Singh aka Anmol Guru , born and raised in a small town of Uttarakhand state of India. I am a self taught Travel Photographer and Filmmaker. Currently working as an assistant director in Chandigarh.

Retro Kolkata : How important is photography to you? How did you start photography?

Anmol Guru : Photography is something I can defy gravity with . Talking about its importance in life , I would say photography has given me recognition which is my life earning to the eternity. I started photography during my college days back in 2013-14 . Learning on my own I was mentored by one of the seniors in my initial days and the rest is history.

Retro Kolkata : What motivates and inspires you as a photographer?

Anmol Guru : Nature , mother earth , and surroundings are my biggest inspirations.

Retro Kolkata : Which genre of photography do you like and What inspires you? Which masters of photography have inspired you in your photographic work?

Anmol Guru : I like to travel and simultaneously like to document the things I come across so I designate myself in the travel photography genre. There are numerous photographers but definitely i would like to mention some , STEVE McCURRY , HARVARINDER SINGH , CHRIS BURKARD , NIMIT NIGAM . There are more photographers out there who really are inspiring but cannot name everyone.

Retro Kolkata : What type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment do you use?

Anmol Guru : I am currently using a DSLR nikon d750 + nikkor 50mm f1.8 lens + Tokina 16-28 f2.8 lens.

Retro Kolkata : What subjects inspire you and prompt you to look for the shot?

Anmol Guru : Nature is unpredictable , if i want to mention one subject i would say STARS . Astro photography is something else.

Retro Kolkata : Do you prefer black and white shots or colour?

Anmol Guru : Depends on the location , mood and edit.

Retro Kolkata : What is the best project you have worked on and how did you get involved with it?

Anmol Guru : I cannot say the best to anyone as every project has its own significance . Currently I did a music video as an assistant director which is gonna release on T-series anytime now.

Retro Kolkata : What qualities make a perfect shot for you?

Anmol Guru : The composition , the mood , the lightning ,the edit , everything is equally important.

Retro Kolkata : Could you please share the happiest moment in your photography life?

Anmol Guru : If i say till now , when I was shortlisted by RETRO KOLKATA for the international exhibition is one of my finest moments .
